Can compost heat the city? Can moss purify our air? Can food waste power our lights? The publication and compost-heated bench outside The Library make the case for a plant-powered infrastructure of degrowth. A snap shot into the LJ Works project in London. LJ Works is a lightweight workspace, kitchen incubator, cafe and London’s first building powered by food waste. Initiated by local residents as a community garden, the project is a pioneering example for long-term neighborhood stewardship of land fueled by circular social, economic and ecological systems.
