This book consists of sequential video stills which can be flipped through to create the illusion of watching the original video footage, a static shot of a park. The artist offers this quotation: “My solitude is everywhere in the world long before it is in me. It is in this man who passes by with his dog. It is this man, it is this dog.”

ABOUT SENDING AND RECEIVING LETTERS Since I was very young, until my early thirties, I had serious problems in opening and reading any letters I received. Letters would stay on my table for weeks before I found the courage to open them, and during this time my sense of guilt would grow and grow. Most of the time, when I finally opened the letters, it was too late to answer them and my sense of guilt was worse than ever. I kept every single letter, from the first notes received from my mother, in 1965, up to the time I left ...

149 business cards has great meaning to me as it attempts to do several things at once. First, it functions as a kind of self-portrait or autobiography through the people I’ve met and places I have visited. Though, it must be noted only a certain type of people and merchants create & carry business cards. I have met or visited almost everyone or businesses in this book except maybe one or two. So in this way it is a kind of timeline or map to my past. It is very honest. In a more obvious way it serves as an address book. ...

The book displays a close up of a human brain with layers of memory and dreams visualized through a method of psychoanalysis and pharmacological propaganda. It is composed of two scientific researches that investigated the theme of memory and psychoanalysis. The first photos ever realized of sections of the human brain by psychiatric G. Jelgersma at the University of Leiden (1908-1911) are paired with the transcript of narcoanalytic sessions conducted by the controversial psychiatrist Prof. Jan Bastiaans at the end of the 1980’s. He used LSD as well as Pentothal, also known as the “truth serum” in the therapy of patients ...

Based on 150 characters contained within a single phrase, Alexander May has transcribed each character onto linoleum engravings to create a set of unique prints for each letter and stretching this text across the bound parameters of a onestar press book. By the artist’s hand, this investigation focuses upon the economy of the printed page—the space and value of content—expanding past the limitations of a single phrase upon the page.

The long poem 24 hours is made up of twenty-four sections, each section consisting of twenty-four lines. This is a very different poem for me. Intellectually it came out of conversations about obsession I had been having with visual artists. Emotionally it’s one of my most personal poems, a poem about my own mental health, addictions, grief, and an attempt to understand myself through repetition. The first draft of the poem was written over a twenty-four hour period of insomnia, panic, and a kind of energetic wondering about the Self.
