Ruth Wilson Gilmore

<p class="lead">The Beginning of a Perfect Decolonial Moment</p> <p>Ruth Wilson Gilmore is Professor of Geography and Director of the Center for Place, Culture, and Politics at the City University of New York Graduate Center. A co-founder of many grassroots organizations including California Prison Moratorium Project, and Critical Resistance, she works on racial capitalism, organized violence, organized abandonment, changing state structure, criminalization, environmental justice, and labor and social movements. She is the author of <em>Golden Gulag: Prisons, Surplus, Crisis, and Opposition in Globalizing California</em> and soon-to-be published <em>Change Everything: Racial Capitalism and the Case for Abolition</em> (forthcoming February 2021). She was also featured in one of my favorite issues of The Funambulist “Space & Activism” about “Making Abolition Geography in California’s Central Valley.”</p>
