Liz Glynn’s work is engaged with the relationship between objects and narratives and how these narratives reflect politics and power dynamics. She studies the material cultures of the past to consider the ways in which objects embody, preserve, or challenge values and social systems, and she focuses on material artifacts to emphasize the fragmentary nature of our historical narratives. Thus, sculpture for Glynn is a mode of cultural production that always occurs within a historical, political, and social context.
