Ecotones of Making
<p>An ecotone is a hybrid zone between two ecosystems, such as a forest and grassland, or a lake and a field, where specific species and natural phenomena flourish.</p> <p><em>Ecotones of Making</em> considers the ecotone as a way of producing hybridised ways of living, blending urban experiences with the practical knowledge of the rural.</p> <p>This collection of artefacts and tools is sourced and produced in the village of Gerswalde, east Germany. Here, new spaces for rural commoning and small-scale cultural production have emerged, from a communal housing project to a permaculture farm and risograph printing workshop, and are creating a replicable model for quotidian degrowth living.</p>
