Members: Peter Sandbichler im Gespräch mit Angela Stief

In German

Artist and Secession member Peter Sandbichler talks to Angela Stief (Director, Albertina Modern) who has been closely following his work for since the early 2000s and with whom he has worked several times. In their conversation, they touch on Sandbichler’s sculptural practice that, as Stief puts it, “defies categorisation” while it is informed by a deep interest in architecture and public space. Among other things, Sandbichler shares how he was influenced by the thinking and work of Buckminster Fuller, and his interest in working in public space that bears the opportunity to experience art in immediate encounters, offers broad visibility, and the chance to reach a very diverse audience paired with a momentum of chance and unpredictability.

The conversation was recorded on 22 January 2026 at the Secession.
