Artists: Forms of the Shadow - Joon Kim im Gespräch mit Bettina Spörr

In German

Following a conversation with guest curator Sunjung Kim, this podcast series now focuses on the individual artists in the exhibition, alongside their works.

This episode is dedicated to the installation and sound artist Joon Kim, his approach to working with field recordings and explores questions of composition, manipulation, and sound arrangements.

The Hidden Treasures is a soundscape project comprised of the collection of sounds and images from villages near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). Kim captures the ‘sound’ of the natural ecosystem, which has remained almost untouched by humans for a long time due to the historical and geographical reality of the region’s division. This guides the audience to indirectly experience unfamiliar places they have not yet experienced. Joon Kim studied in Bielefeld, Kassel, and at the Academy of Arts in Berlin, which is why this episode was recorded in German at his request.
